You enlist in and go to war with you're good friend. For 17 years you fight side by side. While fighting during those years you get shot and wounded, several times at year 5, year 16, and several times at year 17. That's not including the MANY FLESH WOUNDS scattered in between.
You've sometimes wondered if it was your good friend who was the one doing it because coincidences surrounding the shootings pointed to them.
Such things as where were they when it happened, they would run out from behind a bush that was in the direction of where you had been shot, you got this feeling they had done it.
However upon asking they would say things like "are you crazy, why would you think it were me, how dare you insult me by saying that, why would I do such a thing, if your going to accuse me of it I may as well just do it"!
So with no tangible proof you believed them......, against your better judgement. You move on because the enemy is out there and posing a real threat.
After 17 years serving in MANY war's together you get shot yet again. However this time you see your good friend emerge from behind the bushes you have been shot from.
You say to your dear friend "did you just shoot me"? Upon which they answer coldly, "yes".
Stunned you can't believe it..............! You just stand there.................!
You then ask "be honest, in all the years past that I've been wounded did you shoot me then also....."? To which your dear friend answers, coldly "yes".
You're thinking "WHAT.....can this be real.....all these years you led me to believe that it was someone else....that I was crazy for even asking if it was you....that you would never do such a thing to me!
You're so blown away...you just can't wrap your mind around it! You just can't understand how someone that supposedly loves you could do something like this! It's like being knocked off your feet by a shotgun or hand grenade! Who does this kind of stuff......how could you care so little about someone else!?!?
You pray and fast about the situation and in praying you recall the Scriptures that say,
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Matthew 7: 4
Jesus said referring to a
"woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
7 He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."
John 8:4 and 7
8 My disciples, in days of old, sought occasion against one another and forgave not one another in their hearts; and for this evil they were afflicted and sorely chastened.
9 Wherefore, I say unto you, that ye ought to forgive one another; for he that forgiveth not his brother his trespasses standeth condemned before the Lord; for there remaineth in him the greater sin.
10 I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men.
